Hill Climb

presented by

as part of Farnham Festival of Cycling

4pm Sunday 2 July 2017

The Hoops Velo Hill Climb on Farnham’s Firgrove Hill
is open to riders of all abilities with any type of bike

Starting adjacent to the William Cobbett pub on Longbridge, the hill climb is held as an individual

time trial with the first rider setting off at 16:01 and subsequent riders following at minute intervals.

The course finishes at the entrance to Old Farnham Lane – a distance of 775yds and an

average gradient of less than 5 per cent.

There are prizes for the fastest times for men and women, veterans, team prizes for men and women, vintage bikes, folding bikes, mountain bikes and bonuses for anyone who sets a new record in the men’s

and women’s categories – so there are lots of opportunities to come away a winner and plenty of entertainment for spectators. Some participants ride to set fast times and for others it’s a chance to ride

with a number on their backs, to enjoy the atmosphere and compare times with friends. Riders and supporters are invited to the Maltings’ Cellar Bar after the event for the results and prizegiving.

Beat that!

Can you beat the course records? In 2016 the fastest time was set by George Stainton-Ellis of Pedal Heaven RT at 1 min 4.4 secs. Edie Shaw of the University of Bristol CC was the fastest woman at 1 min 29.0 secs. The last placed rider completed the course in under two minutes.
